Minnesota House of Representatives bill HF 3402 revises statutory provisions for physician assistants to move to an independent practice model. The bill allows PAs to order, perform, supervise and interpret diagnostic procedures and tests. The bill lacks clarification on the definition of diagnostic procedures and studies.
The Minnesota Society of Radiologic Technologists opposes the bill as written and will seek amendatory language to clarify medical imaging is not included in the physician assistant’s scope of practice.
ASRT Student Leadership Development Program- APPLY NOW!!!
The ASRT is now accepting applications for the 2020 Student Leadership Development Program.
Students are encouraged to apply for this unique experience where you will be given the opportunity to get to know the ASRT, attend educational sessions and network with medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals.
Two (2) MSRT students will be selected by a panel of MSRT board appointed judges, and winners will be notified on or before March 1st, 2020. The winners will attend the 2020 ASRT Educational Symposium and Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting on June 24-28, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Included:
-Airfare, housing, stipend for meals and other travel expenses
-An educational program designed just for students
-A professional mentor assigned for the meeting
An insider's look into the largest association for medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals.

The current MSRT Bylaws do not articulate an effective pathway to allow a second alternate delegate to the ASRT House Of Delegates meeting to be selected given the event that a President-Elect is not seated at the Fall Annual Board Meeting. The following RED print Bylaw amendment has been approved by MSRT Board and will be brought to membership vote at the Fall 2019 business meeting in October.

ARTICLE VIII: DELEGATES TO THE ASRT HOUSE OF DELEGATES
Section 1: AFFILIATE DELEGATES
A. Two MSRT delegates and two alternate delegates shall be appointed by the MSRT. The Affiliate Delegates to the ASRT House of Delegates shall be the current MSRT President and the Immediate Past President. The Immediate Past President shall serve as the Senior Delegate. The alternate delegates shall be the President-Elect and a member of MSRT as selected by the MSRT Board that meets qualifications in Section 2.
