ASRT Student Leadership Development Program
Program Highlights
The ASRT Student Development Program offers students a chance to get to know the ASRT, attend educational sessions, and network with medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals.
Selected participants will attend the 2019 ASRT Educational Symposium and Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting, June 20-23 in Orlando, as well as orientation the evening of June 19.
Selected participants receive:
- Airfare, housing, a stipend for meals and other travel expenses.
- An educational program designed just for students.
- A professional mentor assigned for the meeting.
- An insider's look into the largest association for medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals.
- Expanded opportunities for professional growth.
- Three years of continuing SLDP opportunities.
How to apply
Requirements for Participation
ASRT members who previously have been chosen to participate in the ASRT Student Leadership Development Program are welcome to attend the 2019 ASRT Educational Symposium and Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting as paying participants.
You must be a member of an ASRT affiliate society ($20) AND the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) ($35) to be eligible for participation in the program.
Deadline to apply is Nov. 15, 2018. The following materials must be completed by that date:
1. A completed application.
2. A copy of your ASRT affiliate society membership card or verification uploaded to ASRT Volunteer Central.
3. An essay, uploaded to ASRT Volunteer Central, that should be approximately 500-700 words and should answer the following question:
- How do you think you would grow professionally from your participation in the 2019 ASRT Student Leadership Development Program?

As a part of the ASRT essay, please include a brief answer to the following question:
- How have you been active in MSRT and how do you plan to participate in the MSRT in the future?
4. A recommendation/permission letter stating that you have your program director's approval to attend the 2019 ASRT Educational Symposium and Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting, uploaded to ASRT Volunteer Central.
Additional criteria required by the MSRT:
1. Applicants must be a current MSRT/MARS member.
2. Program director must be a MSRT member.
3. Program must be accredited by the JRCERT
Applicants are strongly encouraged to present a brief synopsis of their experience at the MSRT annual conference. If unable to attend, a brief written synopsis could be shared.
As a part of the ASRT essay, please include a brief answer to the following question:
How have you been active in MSRT and how do you plan to participate in the MSRT in the future?
ASRT will forward applications to the MSRT representative, applicant criteria will be verified and judging will be done anonymously by 3 judges appointed by the MSRT president.
